The loss of the Battle of Balaclava in October 1854, was made out to be some sort of miscommunication. The truth is that the Russians pasted the light brigade , who tuned tail and ran for their lives.

Now let me digress to Florence of Nightingale. She was there nursing at the Battle of Balaclava.
This woman was very attractive with a slim figure and she was from a very rich family. She was a healer of the Indian tradition which later was known as Reiki.

In 1883, Nightingale was awarded the Royal Red Cross by Queen Victoria. In 1904, she was appointed a Lady of Grace of the Order of St John (LGStJ). In 1907, she became the first woman to be awarded the Order of Merit. In the following year she was given the Honorary Freedom of the City of London.
Her birthday is now celebrated as International CFS Awareness Day.

History writing is a neglected aspect of nation building even in this 21st century. Even today, we make our opinions based on news reports, TV shows, books, autobiographies etc. We don't have authentic history books even for the post-1947 era. Whatever available information is scattered, deliberately hidden in the name of secrecy, and even distorted to suit a particular ideology or political party.
In addition, even now, we depend on foreign experts to understand our historical events, which can never be free of bias and malice. Their analysis and interpretation is widely acclaimed and propagated without any debate. Such experts have free hand even in commenting about our religion, culture, govt policies, minorities etc etc.
There was a widespread perception about MMS being a puppet PM, but there was no proof. There is a popular misconception that AK49 is an honest politician, but there are contrary extreme views about him based on his modus operandi. We say Gandhiji is our father of nation who single-handedly gave us freedom, but there is enough evidence to prove that he doesn't deserve this description. Ambedkar is a god for many, but he is a villain in others' opinion.
Can there be any solution to such extreme views?
Like the census, history writing should be the government's responsibility. Our govt should form a committee of eminent historians from different universities to write contemporary history. Fuel was added to the fire of their anger when black men, mostly freed slaves, were excluded from this same draft. The Irish feared that newly freed slaves from the South would migrate to the North and create further competition in the labor market.
Many Irish saw this as a "rich man's war and a poor man's fight" since the policies of substitution and commutation were controversial practices which allowed drafted citizens to opt out of service by either furnishing a suitable substitute to take the place of those drafted, or pay $300 each.
The Northern states remained loyal to the United States government, which was led by President Abraham Lincoln. Irish-Americans living in the Union states often formed their own regiments, notably the 69th New York State Volunteers.
The Volunteers flew a green flag with a golden harp on it, symbolizing Ireland. The green flag was carried in addition to the normal regimental and national colours, making the 69th probably the only regiment to carry five colors into battle during the American Civil War.
Seven Union generals were Irish-born while an estimated 150,000 Irish-Americans fought for the Union during the war. At the 1862 Battle of Fredericksburg, the Union Irish Brigade charged up Marye's Heights, suffering more than half the casualties.
As usual R made sure Irish fough on both sides. Although significantly fewer Irish lived in the Confederate States of America, six Confederate generals were Irish-born. Not so bright Irish were killing Irish.

By early spring of 1846, panic began to spread as food supplies disappeared. Starving people ate the seeds for the next year .
Potatoes could not be stored for more than a year. If the potato crop failed, there was nothing to replace it
People ate anything they could find, including the leaves and bark of trees and even grass. Lord Montaeagle reported to the House of Lords in March, people were eating food “from which so putrid and offensive an effluvia issued that in consuming it they were obliged to leave the doors and windows of their cabins open,” and illnesses, including “fever from eating diseased potatoes,” were beginning to spread.
Driven by panic and desperation, a flood of emigrants left Ireland in 1847. Many left dressed in rags with not enough food to last the 40-day sea journey across the Atlantic and not enough money to buy food sold on board.
Almost all of the Irish who immigrated to America were poor peasants from rural counties. Most were illiterate, and many spoke only Irish and could not understand English. And although they had lived off the land in their home country, the immigrants did not have the skills needed for large-scale farming in the American West.
Instead, they settled in Boston, New York, and other cities on the East Coast. The men took whatever jobs they could find—loading ships at the docks, sweeping streets, cleaning stables. The women took jobs as servants to the rich or working in textile factories.
Most stayed in slum tenements near the ports where they arrived and lived in basements and attics with no water, sanitation, or daylight. Many children took to begging, and men often spent what little money they had on alcohol.

The Irish slave trade by rich Jews began when King James II sold 30,000 Irish prisoners as slaves to the New World. His Proclamation of 1625 required Irish political prisoners be sent overseas and sold to English settlers in the West Indies.
