Most DEADLY road accidents now happen to flood totaled cars, criminally resold by car insurers to mafia second hand car dealers - Capt Ajit Vadakayil

THIS POST IS MOST CRITICAL TO SAVE LIVES.. A CAR ACCIDENT KILLS OCCUPANTS INSIDE THE CAR, AS WELL AS PEOPLE OUTSIDE THE CAR.

A POOR MAN TAKES AN ALMIGHTY  JUMP FROM HIS 15 YEAR OLD CYCLE TO A HIGH END IMPORTED CAR , JUST SIX MONTHS OLD..

HE SAW A GOOD BARGAIN IN A SECOND HAND CAR DEALERs SHOWROOM AND GRABBED IT..

HE  WANTS TO MAKE HIS NEIGHBORS FEEL JEALOUS ..  HE TOOK A LOAN..

HIS FACEBOOK FRIENDS HAD BEEN PUTTING PICTURES OF THEIR FOREIGN JAUNTS. IT MADE HIM FEEL LIKE A LOSER ..

HE WOWED HIS FACEBOOK FRIENDS, WITH HIS NEW PHOREN ACQUISITION  ..

RESULT ?

ONE SUNDAY MORNING HE WENT ON A LONG DRIVE WITH HIS FAMILY .    HE CHOSE AN EMPTY HIGHWAY AND DROVE FAST IN EXHILARATION..

HE FAILED TO NOTE LOOMING DARK SHADOWS ..    MODERN HIGH END CARS HAVE COMPLICATED SENSOR BASED ELECTRONICS AND ELECTRICAL CIRCUITS

HE HAD HARDLY EVER SAT IN A CAR BEFORE, LEAVE ALONE DRIVE A CAR..

HE HAD A MAJOR ACCIDENT WHICH KILLED HIS ENTIRE FAMILY AND LEFT HIM CRIPPLED FOR LIFE..

A “salvage title” means the car was declared a total loss by an insurance company because of a serious accident or some other problems.

A “flood title” means the car has damage from sitting in water deep enough to fill the engine compartment. The title status is part of a US vehicle history report— not in India..

If you are in the market for a used car, there’s a good chance that you will run across a vehicle that looks great, has low mileage and is selling well below market value.    Unfortunately, somewhere in the fine small print ( which needs a magnifying lens) you’ll probably find the words “salvage title.”

Totaled cars are typically sold at a salvage auction to junkyards and vehicle rebuilders. Reselling them as second hand cars to consumers is legal only if the flood damage is disclosed on the title boldly in print.

When a car's damages are beyond repair, it's considered a total loss. That means the cost to repair the vehicle is close to or higher than its value. If your car is totaled in an accident, insurance pays you for the car's estimated value.

Indeed, salvage-title high end cars are so problematic ( death traps literally ) that it is best to staying away from them entirely—or you could lose your life

AFTER HURRICANE KATRINA, ALMOST ALL CARS IN NEW ORLEANS WERE TOTALED  ( DECLARED AS CONSTRUCTIVE TOTAL LOSS )  BY US CAR INSURERS DUE TO SALT WATER DAMAGE ..

ALMOST ALL THOSE CARS LANDED UP IN OTHER PARTS OF USA, CANADA AND OTHER PARTS OF THE WORLD .. AS  "GOOD BARGAIN"  SECOND HAND CARS,

WHEN YOU INDEPENDENTLY SELL A VEHICLE, YOU'RE AT RISK IF THE PERSON WHO PURCHASED IT KEEPS THE CAR IN YOUR NAME. IF THEY GET INTO AN ACCIDENT AND THE VEHICLE IS STILL TITLED AND REGISTERED IN YOUR NAME, YOU CAN BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE DAMAGES.

AS A SELLER, YOU MUST CREATE A BILL OF SALE AND PROPERLY TRANSFER THE CAR'S TITLE. ONCE THE CAR IS SOLD, IT'S ALSO IMPORTANT TO CANCEL THE AUTO INSURANCE POLICY TO CUT ALL REMAINING TIES TO THE VEHICLE.

MANY PEOPLE WHOSE CARS WERE TOTALED BY THE INSURANCE COMPANY DO NOT KNOW THAT THEIR NAMES HAVE NOT BEEN REMOVED..

JUST SHOWS HOW STUPID OUR SUPREME COURT JUDGES ARE..

LET THIS BE ON RECORD..   MELORDS BRAINS ARE AT THE WRONG END..

MUST A SELLER RETAIN HIS CAR KEYS TILL THE NAME CHANGE IS DONE ?  WHAT RIDICULOUS BULLSHIT IS THIS ?

HEY MELORDS  -- CAN THE OLD OWNER CHARGE THE BUYER  ( WHO DOES NOT WANT TO SPEND ON NEW REGISTRATION CHARGES  ) FOR THEFT OF HIS CAR IN A COURT OF LAW  ?

THIS IS WHAT HAPPENS WHEN THE BOTTOM DREGS OF THE SCHOOL CEREBRAL BARREL AND THE DISCARDS OF THE LOSER LAWYER POOL BECOME JUDGES..

IMAGINE THESE JOKERS ARE MAKING LAWS IN INDIA AND PLAYING GOD..   ALL THESE JUDGES ARE ALLOWED TO DO IS TO "INTERPRET LAWS"..

READ ALL 8 PARTS OF THE POST BELOW--

THE SELLER'S LIABILITY MUST TERMINATE ONCE HE SELLS HIS CAR..

THERE MUST BE A SET PROCEDURE FOR "HIT AND RUN CASES" IN THIS DIGITAL AGE.

IMAGINE PRAGYA THAKUR WAS CONVERTED TO A TERRORIST BY THE MELORDS.

PRAGYA THAKUR WAS BRANDED A TERRORIST , JUST BECAUSE A MOTORBIKE SHE SOLD LONG AGO,  WAS AT THE SCENE OF A BOMB BLAST AT MALEGAON IN 2008..

SHE WAS A HIGH PROFILE FEMALE MOTORCYCLE RIDER AND A YOUNG HINDU LEADER-- IN THE CROSS HAIRS OF PAKISTAN ISI ..

THIS MOTORCYCLE WAS THE “ KEY EVIDENCE”  IN THE ARREST OF THAKUR AND HER INCARCERATION FOR NINE LONG  YEARS..

SHE WAS TORTURED IN JAIL AND SHE IS NOW A MENTAL AND PHYSICAL WRECK..

THIS IS WHAT OUR COLLEGIUM JUDICIARY IS WORTH..

SELLER  IS NOT SHERLOCK HOLMES TO TRACK HIS SOLD CAR/ MOTOR BIKE  ..AND THAT TOO IN INDIA WHICH HAS 1300 MILLION PEOPLE....

IT MUST BE THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE NEW CAR OWNER TO REGISTER THE CAR IN  HIS OWN NAME , BY SHOWING HIS AADHAR CARD ..

REGISTRATION MUST NOT BE DONE UNLESS THE NEW OWNER GET FRESH INSURANCE IN HIS OWN NAME ..

WHEN YOU BUY A NEW CAR IN A BIG MARUTI SHOWROOM,  95% OF PEOPLE SELL THEIR OLD MARUTI CAR IN WHICH THEY HAVE DRIVEN IN TO MARUTI.    THEY GET RIPPED OFF.

https://www.acko.com/articles/general-info/registration-and-re-registration-of-vehicles/

https://www.cars24.com/blog/what-are-the-documents-required-to-sell-a-car/

You sold your car and provided form 29 and 30 to the new owner, later on you got to know that the car is still in your name.

In such case, all the liabilities of the car is on you be it accident claims, theft or terrorism ( like Pragya Thakur ) even after several years .

So, it is necessary that you transfer the car on new owner’s name by yourself ????

WHAT BULLSHIT IS THIS ?.

In USA the National Motor Vehicle Title Information System (NMVTIS) is a federal database containing automobile information from states, insurance carriers, and the salvage industry. The vehicle history information is available to the public and can provide valuable information about a potential purchase.

It is a grave misdemeanor for anyone to “intentionally deface, destroy, or alter the motor number, other distinguishing number, or identification mark of a vehicle required or employed for registration purposes without written authorization from the department, nor shall any person place or stamp any serial, motor, or other number or mark upon a vehicle, except one assigned thereto by the department.

If you want to check a vehicle's history for free, first find its Vehicle Identification Number, or “VIN,” . You can then go online and enter the VIN to get a free vehicle history report.

The VIN is your Vehicle Identification Number. All vehicles are assigned one of these unique numbers. It's usually a 17 character ID commonly found on the driver's side interior dash, door jamb, as well as on title records. Every vehicle has a VIN.

A car's VIN number is sometimes called its chassis number in India . They are the same - the Vehicle Identification Number is stamped to the chassis of the car and so is fixed to that model in question

The table below will help you locate your car’s unique VIN – its unique vehicle identification number. VINs/Chasis are normally located in several locations on a car, but the most common places are:

- On the door frame/door post of the front doors (usually driver’s but sometimes passenger’s)

- On the dash near the windshield

- On the engine itself (machined pad on front of engine)

- On the car’s firewall

- In the left-hand inner wheel arch

- On the steering wheel/steering column

- On the radiator support bracket

- On your car’s title, registration, guarantee/maintenance book or on the declarations page of your auto insurance policy.

IN INDIA WE NEED A STANDARD LOCATION FOR VIN..    TWO OPEN TO PUBLIC AND ONE HIDDEN STAMPED ON CHASSIS IN A UNDISCLOSED PLACE..

The letters I,O, and Q will never be found in a VIN. This is simply to avoid confusion with the numbers 1 and 0, leaving less room for error. If your VIN contains any of these alphanumeric characters, the VIN is invalid and will not be decoded by any VIN decoding service.

The car's vehicle identification number (VIN) is the identifying code for a SPECIFIC automobile.   The VIN serves as the car's fingerprint, as no two vehicles in operation have the same VIN.   A VIN is composed of 17 characters (digits and capital letters) that act as a unique identifier for the vehicle.

In the series of numbers and letters, the tenth from the left denotes the model year and the eighth is the engine code.

The first three digits of the VIN make up the World Manufacturer Identifier (WMI) number.

https://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/city/gurgaon/inter-state-illegal-car-sale-racket-busted/articleshow/70110707.cms

In India there is a well established car insurance company nexus with a FRONT mafia .. Crooks purchase flood totaled cars along with their documents through scrap dealers at handsome prices. The syndicate then dispose of the vehicle but retained the documents.

In the next step, the gang would target a vehicle of same make and colour and steal it .   A team of expert forgers would then obliterate the original engine and chassis numbers of the stolen vehicle and inscribe the corresponding figures from the wrecked car that they had purchased.   With this simple trick, the stolen vehicle takes on the identity of another, which has been declared a total loss..

In this digital age all this can easily be prevented – if the govt has political will  .  We don’t want stupid judges ( who don’t know if they are coming or going )  to play messiah.

INDIA MUST HAVE A TRANSPARENT DATABASE LIKE THE ONE IN USA BELOW.

AFTER FLOODING GOVT MUST WATCH OUT FOR PEOPLE ( MOSTLY WORKSHOPS ) THROWING DRAINED OUT CONTAMINATED SUMP LUB OIL AND DIESEL INTO THE SOIL OR WATER BODIES..   THERE MUST BE STRICT FINES..

After flood the workshops will be inundated by flood damaged vehicles. And the cost for repairing them will be substantial, especially in the case of luxury cars.

Repair options depend on the extent of the flooding, water type, depth and duration of submersion.  Fresh water  corrosive as salt water, to the car innards.  As a ship captain I am an expert on salt water submersions of critical spaces on ship..

We use GAMLEN solvent to remove salt and water from electricals..  Ashore there is a valuable spray can known as WD40 which repels water ..

Electrical Contact Cleaner blasts away oil, dirt, flux residue and condensation from sensitive electronics and electrical equipment to keep it running smoothly. It dries quickly, leaves no residue.. WD40 is safe on rubber. WD40 is a de-greaser, so it will remove any lubricant.

There are other varieties of WD-40 on the market that do different things, specifically a version that is a lubricant that has no solvent

Modern vehicles have sometimes thousands of wires, relays, sensors, and computers. That's a lot of stuff that wasn't designed to get wet, so fixing a seventh-generation Ford Mustang will be a lot harder than repairing 1960 model Premier Padmini.

Submerged modern high end cars  can be rolling deathtraps.

Dirty water can ruin electronics, lubricants, and mechanical systems.   It may take months or years,  but corrosion can find its way to the car's vital electronics

Salvage cars often have lurking problems that may not be addressed in the process of restoring them to health.    Not all rebuilders are honest.   Cutting corners to boost profitability is the name of the game.

You would not be able to service or repair a modern style wheel bearing either. The only solution from water damage is to replace the wheel bearing completely.

AVOID VEHICLES WITH SIGNS OF DEEP WATER EXPOSURE  "EVEN IF A VEHICLE LOOKS ACCEPTABLE AND MAY BE WORKING WHEN YOU INSPECT IT-- OR DO A SHORT TEST RUN."

THAT'S BECAUSE THE LONG-TERM EFFECTS OF WATER DAMAGE CAN HAUNT BUYERS FOR THE LIFE OF THE CAR.

THE SITUATION IN INDIA TODAY IS NOT LIKE BUYING A SECOND HAND CAR 30 YEARS AGO.

THE ROT IS TOO DEEP,  WITH POLITICIANS CONTROLLING THE FLOODED CAR SECOND HAND RESALE MAFIA....

THOUSANDS OF CARS ARE DAMAGED OR DESTROYED BY FLOODS EVERY YEAR, BUT DON'T ASSUME THEY ALL END UP IN A JUNKYARD,  ESPECIALLY IN INDIA .

TODAY INDIAN POLITICIANS RUNS SECOND HAND CAR BUSINESS LIKE WATER LORRIES.     IT IS A MOST LUCRATIVE MAFIA BUSINESS  .

IN INDIA , WHEN AN INSURANCE COMPANY DECLARES A FLOOD-DAMAGED CAR A TOTAL CONSTRUCTIVE LOSS ( TOTALED ) , THAT INFORMATION ISN'T COMMUNICATED TO POTENTIAL BUYERS.    POLICE / JUDGES / POLITICIANS/ BABUS ARE ALL HAND IN GLOVE.. SAB MIL BHAANTKE KHAATE HEIN.

ONCE A FLOOD CAR IS TOTALED, IT’S SUPPOSED TO GET A NEW TITLE, CALLED A SALVAGE TITLE. THOSE TITLES ARE USUALLY PLAINLY MARKED (KNOWN AS BEING “BRANDED”) WITH THE WORD “SALVAGE” OR “FLOOD.”
IN SOME STATES, THIS WARNING IS SHOWN ON THE TITLE AS AN OBSCURE LETTER OR NUMBER CODE. THIS IS A CRIMINAL CONSPIRACY

INDIA NEEDS TO HAVE A  USEFUL ONLINE TOOL FOR CAR SHOPPERS IS THE NATIONAL MOTOR VEHICLE TITLE INFORMATION SYSTEM (NMVTIS), WHICH HELPS CONSUMERS RUN BACKGROUND CHECKS.

THIS SYSTEM AIMS TO CRACK DOWN ON THE PRACTICE OF “TITLE WASHING,” WHEN CARS THAT HAVE BEEN TOTALED (OR STOLEN) GET CLEAN, NEW TITLES IN STATES WITH LAX REGULATIONS.

HOWEVER, IF THE VEHICLE’S OWNER DIDN'T HAVE COMPREHENSIVE INSURANCE COVERAGE AT THE TIME OF THE FLOODING, OR THE REPAIR BILL DIDN’T EXCEED A CERTAIN LEVEL, THE VEHICLE MIGHT NOT GET A SALVAGE OR BRANDED TITLE AT ALL.

THERE ARE ONLY A FEW US STATES THAT OFFER A “FLOOD” TITLE, WHICH REQUIRES A HISTORY OF ANY FLOOD DAMAGE.

IN USA  ONCE A VEHICLE IS DECLARED A “TOTAL LOSS” IT WILL BE ISSUED A “SALVAGE CERTIFICATE” WHICH DECLARES THAT THE VEHICLE CANNOT BE REGISTERED, DRIVEN OR SOLD IN ITS CURRENT CONDITION.

AT THIS POINT, ALMOST ALL INSURANCE COMPANIES SELL THE VEHICLE AT AUCTION TO REBUILDERS OR SALVAGE YARDS.

INDIA DOES NOT HAVE A SYSTEM .. LIVES ARE BEING LOST..

WHO CARES !

NITIN GADKARI IS ON CHANNE KE JHAAD, GIVING US UNSOLICITED INFORMATION ON TV, HOW MANY KMS OF ROADS HE MADE UNDER MODI’S LEADERSHIP....

INSURANCE COMPANIES ( BACKED BY POLITICIANS/ POLICE/ JUDGES / BABUS / MEDIA ) ARE NOW TEAMING UP WITH SCRAP DEALERS TO RESTORE FLOOD AFFECTED VEHICLES AND SELL IT OFF TO UNSUSPECTING BUYERS IN THE SECOND HAND CAR MARKET!

Instead of turning vehicles that have been damaged beyond repair into scrap, they are putting them up for AUCTION to the delight of the second-hand car mafia.  The result: a flood of substandard second hand cars, which could betray unsuspecting new owners any moment.

Here is a car seller venting his woes..

My fully waterlogged Alto Lxi is declared as total loss by Surveyor.   But when I contacted insurance company, they are handling it as "salvage loss".

They will AUCTION the car to salvage buyer, and salvage buyer will give me DD.  Insurance company will give me IDV - salvage value.

Is this the correct process ?.

I am under the impression that I can can insist insurance company to give me IDV instead of going for this salvage loss procedure ?

THIS IS INSURANCE FRAUD..  THERE IS NO SIGNED CONTRACT FOR THIS TYPE OF DAYLIGHT ROBBERY

Re: Car got waterlogged, repairs estimate greater than resale value, what to do?

Even I have got the same reply as the person above me. The insurance company New India Assurance has conveyed that they will treat as salvage loss, meaning they would only give the difference of the IDV-salvage amount-compulsory deduction.  So I am told to wait for the AUCTION to go through after which I will get the salvage amount and the rest will be paid by the Insurance company.  This is new and surprising to me as I have seen other total loss cases where IDV (  insured declared value ) was paid upfront and the car was taken by the insurance company.

AWAITING AUCTION?

WHY HAS THE INDIAN GOVT ALLOWED THIS SWINDLE BY INSURANCE COMPANIES WHO RAKE IN CRORES IN PROFITS ?
THE CAR IS LEFT TO ROT IN THE CAR SERVICE YARD – THERE WILL BE NO  TAKERS WHEN IT IS PUT FOR AUCTION.    LATER THE CHARGE A PARKING FEE AS WELL.

NITIN GADKARI, MODI, CJI , CM , GOVERNOR  ALL KNOW WHAT IS HAPPENING..

READ THE LINK BELOW.

https://www.team-bhp.com/forum/indian-car-loans-insurance/207907-car-declared-total-loss-4-years-back-but-still-running-our-name.html

FEEDBACK : ---- QUOTE: One of my neighbor who is a senior manager at a PSU insurance co told me that they have been instructed to NOT declare any flood affected vehicle as "Total loss".  They are told to mark vehicles with high repair estimates as "Salvage loss" and proceed to auction them. The insurance co will also make the owner sign an affidavit which basically promises that the buyer will complete the ownership transfer in a few months time.  I'm pretty sure this affidavit will have a no-liability-for-insurance-co clause, so that the risk is entirely upon the owner and the salvage buyer. Now it would have probably been fine if it was a local buyer whom we can trace somehow. But that's not the case here. The buyers are from all over India and these people wouldn't be individual private buyers and they may sell it to someone else, with whom the original owner will have no contact at all. :UNQUOTE

Once total loss is declared, the insurer has to cancel the RC (registration certificate) book, pay the owner the IDV, and make arrangements for the vehicle to be disposed as scrap. (The insurance companies are supposed to sell the scrap through Metal Scrap Trading Corporation, a miniratna PSU under the Ministry of Steel.) This, in insurance lingo, is called the 'constructive total loss' procedure.

A total loss is where the cost to repair the vehicle EXCEED the market value. ... This is called a ” CONSTRUCTIVE TOTAL LOSS” this is where YOU have consented to the Insurer to take ownership of your vehicle and they will obtain a sum of money for the salvage of your vehicle.

Instead of the CTL procedure, which dumps the damaged vehicle for good, insurance companies have now resorted to the 'salvage loss' method.  This is a process by which a vehicle that has suffered total loss is put up for auction.  Salvage buyers, big used-car companies in North India ( MAFIA with political / police / judiciary  backing ) ,  circle over the flood-affected regions in the state like vultures. They constantly call up insurance companies and surveyors.  Auctions are been held in flood-affected areas . The get get quotes from salvage buyers. The cars are sold to the highest bidder..

The insurance company sells the damaged car without cancelling the RC book  . The insurance company is not obliged to ensure that the middleman has changed the ownership.   The existing buyer is made to sign Form 29 and 30, which is the form for ownership change.

Now it is up to the new owner, the used car dealer mostly, to change the ownership. The insurance company will not guarantee this.  Now if an accident happens , the former owner will be liable to pay up. In the case of Pragya Thakur she was incarcerated for nine years , with police/ judiciary / political connivance..

We all know how much Chid/ Dig Vijay Singh/ Shinde ete were involved in cementing a term called HINDU TERROR just to please a Hindu hating , Maino Jewess Italian waitress.

This salvage loss method helps insurance companies to laugh all the way to the bank.

As per the Motor Insurance Act, only the third-party motor insurance cover is mandatory in India. This insurance plan provides coverage to the third party. It includes any legal liability brought against the third party vehicle’s owner, including death or physical injury to a third party. While the third party cover includes damages caused to the third party property with the involvement of the insured vehicle, it doesn’t provide coverage for any damage done to the insured vehicle.

The policyholder or the policyholder’s car does not get any protection under this cover under third party insurance policy.

If your car insurance only covers THIRD PARTY  liability, you are not insured for damage to your vehicle and will have to pay out of pocket for repairs.

BUT HE PAYS ONLY 15% OF THE ANNUAL INSURANCE RENEWAL FEE COMPARED TO COMPREHENSIVE POLICY

The insurance companies,  have arrived at a THUMB RULE formula to swiftly settle the avalanche of claims after floods. Under this formula, the damaged cars have been classified into A, B, and C categories. In the 'A' category falls vehicles that have been filled with water up to their floor level. Those having water up to the seat level will be in the 'B' category. Those submerged up to the level of the dashboard and above will be in the 'C' category.  The car manufacturers have prescribed a list of parts that have to be replaced in vehicles coming under each of the three categories.

.
AVOID DRIVING ON FLOODED ROADS, ESPECIALLY IF YOU ARE UNFAMILAR WITH THE AREA AT NIGHT.

IF YOU FEEL THAT YOUR CAR EXHAUST IS UNDERWATER MAKE SURE YOUR ENGINE DOES NOT STALL.. IF THE ENGINE STALLS WATER WILL BE SUCKED INTO THE EXHAUST PIPE..

TO PREVENT CAR FROM STALLING WITH EXHAUST UNDERWATER  DRIVE IN FIRST GEAR , BY REVVING THE ENGINE AND SLIPPING THE CLUTCH IN A PRUDENT MANNER..

DRIVING SLOW PREVENTS WATER WAVE BUILDUP IN FRONT  .. A BUILD UP F WATER WILL CAUSE WATER TO ENTER THE ENGINE VIA THE ENGINE AIR INTAKE  OR CAR BATTERY TO BE SUBMERGED..

BEST IS TO DRIVE THE CAR TO A HIGHER PLACE , WITHOUT CAUSING A TRAFFIC JAM-- OR TURN BACK WHERE YOU CAME FROM, TO A LESS WATERLOGGED PLACE..
IF YOU CAR ENGINE STALLS, NEVER EVER ATTEMPT TO RESTART THE CAR.. PUT THE GEAR INTO NEUTRAL AND PUSH THE CAR TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD.

Because of the height of most manifolds, water entering the tailpipe is unlikely to find its way into the engine. It could, however, lay in the lowest parts of the mufflers and in downward-facing loops and bends in the exhaust pipes, potentially causing problems with starting and running..

OPEN THE BONNET AND DISCONNECT THE BATTERY CABLE. FIRST GROUND THEN POSITIVE CABLE.

Disconnecting the battery will protect you from electric shock while you check other things.

USE YOUR MOBILE AND TAKE A PICTURE OF YOUR CAR, AT THE TIME YOU ABANDONED IT.

ORDER FOR A TOW TRUCK.   IT WILL BE HARD TO COME..   THE MAIN IDEA WILL BE TO TEMPORARILY TOW THE CAR TO HIGHER GROUND.. ALL WORKSHOP PARKING SPACES WILL BE OCCUPIED ( UNLESS YOU KNOW THE MECHANIC )

LOCAL EXPERTS WILL SWARM IN AND OFFER TO RESTART YOUR CAR —DO NOT FALL FOR THIS.. THEY WILL DESTROY THE CAR ENGINE.   IF WATER ENTERS THE ENGINE CYLINDERS, YOU MUST KNOW THAT AIR IS COMPRESSIBLE, WATER IS NOT..

Water if drawn into the cylinders while the engine is running, the pistons on the upward -- compression -- stroke will slam into an immoveable object. This can result in engine HYDROLOCK, damage to the piston and piston rod, damage to the valves and the cylinder head and can blow the head gasket.

As long as your engine didn't go into hydro-lock, there's no reason it shouldn't run after a thorough drying and replacement of the oil and any damaged electrical components.   In cases of prolonged immersion, you'll also need to drain the fuel tank and lines. Certain components, such as the computer, ignition module and possibly the ignition coil, are almost sure to go following immersion, but they're replaceable

REMEMBER, A SALT WATER FLOOD CAR MUST BE DISCARDED AND WRITTEN OFF .. IT IS NOT SAFE TO REVIVE THE CAR.  A HIGH END CAR IS VIRTUALLY UN-FIXABLE..

If the car got soaked in salt water .  Don’t even try to save it. It is not worth to risk your life ..Just pay a junkyard to pick it up and walk away.

Tow it to the nearest workshop and inform the insurance company if you have comprehensive insurance policy.

An insurance agent will evaluate your car to decide whether it can be repaired or if it will need to be replaced. They’ll weigh the value of the vehicle against the cost of the repairs. If fixing it costs more than it’s worth, they’ll deem it totaled. The agent will take photos of the damage to accompany your insurance claim.

If your insurance policy is comprehensive ,  you file a claim with your insurer.. Your insurer declares the vehicle a total loss. You sign a release form stating that you have no further claim to the vehicle and your insurer pays you for the loss. The vehicle now belongs to the insurer.

As your insurer has no use for a junked vehicle, it will likely sell the car.  Most US states require insurers to inform the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) or other licensing agency that the vehicle has been declared a total loss.

Even with fresh water, if the water reached the bottom of the dashboard,  the insurance company will likely consider the high end car totaled.

Even after all the sensors and control modules have been replaced the vehicle may still be prone to apparently random failures. Most important are the car’s safety features. In modern cars, these rely on a complex interplay of information shared between an array of sensors, decision-making on-board computer chips and electrically-operated actuation devices. Damage to these components may well go entirely unnoticed until they are needed, at which point their failure can be extremely dangerous.

ALL THE CARS FLOODED IN NEW ORLEANS BY HURRICANE KATRINA, HAD SALT WATER DAMAGE..    WHEN TSUNAMI ENTERS A COASTAL TOWN ,THE FLOODWATER IS SALT WATER..

I AM A SALT WATER EXPERT, WITH 40 YEARS EXPERIENCE.  PEOPLE WHO WANT TO BUY HOMES AT SEA SHORES, MUST REMEMBER— SALT ( BY SALT SPRAY IN AIR ) DESTROYS EVERYTHING INSIDE YOUR HOME..

MODERN EXPENSIVE CARS ARE BEST REPAIRED BY THE MANUFACTURER APPROVED MECHANIC.. THIS IS NOT LIKE A PREMIER PADMINI PETROL ENGINE

Do not attempt to restart any flood-affected engine until it has been inspected by a trained approved mechanic.

FINALLY WHEN A WORKSHOP ATTENDS YOUR FLOODED AND STALLED CAR, IT IS BETTER THAT YOU BE A WITNESS TO INITIAL  CRITICAL CHECKS .. USE YOUR MOBILE PHONE TO TAKE PICTURES.

A flood-damaged car can experience problems months or even years after the event. If your car is a borderline case, consider pushing your insurance company ( comprehensive insurance policy )  to declare the car a total loss. Replacing it will cost money, but you may save yourself from some major (and expensive) headaches down the road.

If your mechanic doesn’t have any experience working with flooded vehicles, the car may not be worth trying to save.

CHECK LUB OIL SUMP USING THE DIP STICK FOR INCREASE IN LEVEL OR DISCOLORATION DUE TO WATER INGRESS ( SAPONIFICATION ).    IF WATER TRACES EXIST, TO OIL HAS TO BE DRAINED AND OIL FILTERS RENEWED.

WATER CAN ENTER FUEL TANK, VIA THE AIR BREATHER.

If the any water got into the fuel tank, it must be drained ( water will be at the bottom of tank )  before you crank the engine or water will be pumped into the fuel system and cause a lot of trouble.   If you find water mixed with the fuel, your fuel system must be flushed.

Check all oil levels and oil for discolouration. This includes gearboxes, transmission, differentials and hydraulic reservoirs. If water has risen high enough, it will have entered through the breathers for all of these.

IF THE AIR INTAKE FILTER IS WET, IT MEANS WATER HAS ENTERED THE ENGINE.

The car’s engine sucks in air to operate. So, when the intake ends up below water, the engine begins sucking in water instead of air. The piston rods will begin to bend and your engine will blow. This may result in the need to replace your entire engine.

IN THE WORKSHOP THEY WILL REMOVE THE SPARK ARRESTORS / IGNITION COIL / FUEL INJECTORS AND REMOVE WATER BY TURNING THE ENGINE WITH HAND a FEW REVOLUTIONS TO FLING THE WATER OUT

WATER WILL EJECT OUT OF THE ENGINE HEAD, AND EXHAUST SYSTEM.

Attempt to rotate the crank shaft by hand only using hand tools. Do not crank the starter motor..
Again, do not turn on the ignition. This could cause a short circuit in the electrical system.

IF FUSES HAVE BEEN UNDERWATER, ALL HAVE TO BE REPLACED

If you don’t replace them, these particular electronic items will be prone to failure over time, even if they operate right now. The same is true with your wiring harnesses and battery cable connections.

ALL RUBBER DRAIN PLUGS AT THE DOOR HAVE TO BE REMOVED..

ALL MOTORS ( STARTER ETC )  EVEN IF WORKING, HAVE TO GO AN INSULATION CHECK

DO NOT START YOUR CAR UNTIL YOU ARE CONFIDENT THAT ITS KEY SYSTEMS HAVE BEEN DRAINED OF WATER.

Brake, clutch, power steering, coolant reservoirs are sealed on most newer vehicles, but water can seep in.

Try the headlights, power locks, turn signals, windows and seats, air conditioning, interior lights, and stereo. Any part that seems to function differently than it did before the flood indicates potential electrical trouble..

Check your brakes, power steering, coolant reservoirs, and clutch for damage, too

Deodorize your car with baking soda and a sponge

Brand-new carpets in a second hand vehicle is a red flag.  If a car is for sale with conspicuous amount of air freshener scent present, this can be a sign that the musty smell of mold and dampness is being covered up.

A dishonest mechanic can remove the vehicle's instrument panel, which houses the speedometer and odometer, and replace them with instruments from a lower-mileage car. In many vehicles, that's all that's needed. The lower odometer number from the other car will show up in the new car's dashboard
How to Protect Against Odometer Fraud?

Ask to see the title and compare the mileage on it with the vehicle's odometer. .Compare the mileage on the odometer with the mileage indicated on the vehicle's maintenance or inspection records. ...
In some places, they have authorized vehicle scrappers who will take the car, cut the chassis (part where chassis no is engraved) . I have seen this happening. All this fraud happens with the help of staffers in the district transport office  ..
