Millions of people in India have suffered from poor health ( kidney/ liver damage ) because there is total lack of knowledge in inspecting LIQUID CARRIER TANKER lorries who ply all around India .
These lorries carry edible liquids , deadly toxic chemicals , petroleum products , detergents ( Eg-Linear Alkyl Benzene ) etc just like how we carry these things on chemical tankers at sea.
They are NOT dedicated like the potable water tanker lorries of Bangalore or the milk lorries of Gujarat or the petroleum lorries of national IOC.
They interchange cargoes .
To add to the woes , a mafia adulterates enroute and skims of good content.
This at sea we notice. We bring pristine olive oil and while discharging into barges in China , I have seen adulteration alongside the ship ( barge to barge ).
At sea we cannot just change from petroleum or chemicals to edible liquids without a most stringent inspection regime.
I ASK THE GOVT TO TELL THEIR ERUDITE / PERCEPTIVE OFFICERS TO GLEAN THROUGH THESE POSTS BELOW.
I HAVE WORKED ON PARCEL CHEMICAL TANKERS – SOMETIMES WE HAVE 40 DIFFERENT CHEMICALS / EDIBLE LIQUIDS/ PETROLEUM PRODUCTS / SLURRIES etc --
ON BOARD IN A SMALL CYLINDRICAL DECK TANK , ALL WE HAVE IS A SINGLE TANKER LORRY CONTENT OF A DEADY CHEMICAL.
If India has to be a SUPER POWER we better get our act together.
We cannot have infrastructure like BEGGARS.
The govt could even send officers to Rotterdam / Houston to learn and chalk out a procedure OPERATIONS manual.
